The long interview (https://youtu.be/hPIc5LRWp5s) answered this question. They know. Oh boy, do they know!
And that they know is becoming more explicit. see for a current example> Sergey Karaganov: Russia must help overthrow Western Europe’s dangerous political elites — RT World News
(this is perhaps too diplomatic language, let’s ask, How? As Zakharova made clear, the sponsors are in America, they were in the 1930’s and they are now.)

“Perhaps the most concerning is Trump’s pick for Secretary of “Defense” Pete Hegseth, a former commander @ America’s illegal black site @ Guantanamo Bay. There he oversaw the legal detention and torture of thousands of innocent people. Many of them are still held today, as they cannot be released out of fear they would sue the government and reveal their torture to the masses, but they cannot be charged as there is no evidence they have done anything wrong.”

Mr P
ParticipantIt is assumed that the delusional clown is not troubled with details of accommodation. The place is said to be 45 square miles. Sadly, there is space for many thousands of victims. Since they are considered to be be non-persons, without rights, and in a law-free zone, there will be those who say that accommodation is not necessary. No need to house or feed or care for. Rather a rhyme of history, even as the nazis pretend that it was they and not the Red Army that liberated Auschwitz, they plan to open another! And if the death rate is high enough, they’ll always have space for more! I wonder, what outfit will get the contracts for the crematoria.

ParticipantMr.P, i cannot decipher treaties, esp. those signed in 1903 granting a perpetual lease. yet, it seems that cuba ought to have legal ground wherein it could make a case that granting naval rights & coaling rights in no way grants the right to commit war crimes on its ground, granted?
-
January 29, 2025 at 18:41 #51095
Mr P
ParticipantI suppose the “treaty” is not relevant. My opinion is that it was made under duress, and that a treaty can’t be perpetual anyway. What’s relevant is the juxtaposition of forces. Cuba can’t stop the nazi occupation of the base. That may change, but probably not until the people in DC are gone.

Participantbless you, Amarynth! a treaty implies equal bargaining power @ the table, if the treaty was imposed by US on Cuba under duress as is stated in your link then it is no treaty @ all & requires consent of both parties to be effective. therefore it could be challenged. how difficult will it be to prove duress as everyone is long dead? (!) does the International Court of Justice have jurisdiction to nullify such a treaty?
-
January 29, 2025 at 19:47 #51099
Mr P
ParticipantI see it, the matter of the base, in terms of brute force. One day that will change. Then Cuba will regain sovereignty.
The colossal changes in the power structure of the world, and the decline of the so-called “west” runs on a scale far larger than Guantanamo. One day the occupying forces will leave.
In the time of the “missile crises” “Gitmo” was in nuclear cross-hairs. iirc a Soviet “LUNA” “cruise missile” aimed at the base. It came close to being vaporized. One Minute to Midnight – Part I: The Soviet Plan to Destroy Guantanamo Naval Base
https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/nsa/cuba_mis_cri/dobbs/gitmo.htm
The occupiers almost left…in a nice bright light!
“…The documents show that U.S. intelligence listed the Soviet weapons as “unidentified artillery” pieces, when they were actually cruise missiles armed with Hiroshima-sized nuclear devices. They were deployed to within 15 miles of the Guantanamo base on the same day — October 27, 1962 — that the Joint Chiefs of Staff recommended an all-out U.S. invasion of Cuba to destroy the Soviet missile bases…”

ParticipantForwarded from Older than Edda:
“The Biden administration’s plans to organize Putin’s assassination, which were reported by American journalist Tucker Carlson, are, in general, a signal of what to expect from the elite there, and whether a reliable agreement with the States is possible. We can believe that it can be concluded with Trump. Moreover, Trump himself can believe in it, and even his closest (and distant) associates and employees of his administration. But there is no guarantee that Trump will not be replaced in the next term by another “democratic” scumbag, who will screw up all these agreements and again offer his administration to consider a plan to assassinate our leader, no matter who occupies this position.
There are unacceptable things in the world rules of the game. If you try to kill the leader of a rival country, then you indicate that you do not consider yourself bound by these rules. The question is: what can you negotiate with those who are going to kill you? By the way, you can be sure that if the United States has such plans, then the European intelligence services are probably hatching them too. And the instrument is clear, the hands of the hohol are already regularly doing all sorts of nasty things on Russian territory, and they will probably continue to do so.
And that is all that needs to be understood when talking about the prospects for peace. Peace is possible only through our military victory, with the destruction of Ukraine, which our enemies are using as a weapon against us, and an exit to direct confrontation with NATO, with a return to the threat of a global clash with the use of nuclear weapons. Some will not be sobered up by this threat, I suspect, but any “peace” with the preservation of an “independent Ukraine” will turn into an eternal war without rules, in which everything is permissible, including the direct organization of terror on enemy territory.”

Keymaster“The question is: what can you negotiate with those who are going to kill you?”
Some historians say at least three Tzars were murdered by the British Empire, including the last official one. Stalin too, for which Churchill received honors a few months later..
So all this is not new, nor will be halted no matter the price. Look at what was done to the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah. It is a miracle he’s survived to date.
There is only one way to escape the Torment of Legion. The ancient Romans, ironically before themselves assuming the throne of Babylon, said it best, and carried it out with salt on the most fertile and prosperous agricultural lands on earth of that era:
“Carthago delenda est!”

KeymasterBack in the day, I’ve flown many a time from National Airport, and iirc at least twice on the same Embraer and route to Kansas City (MO) of the ill-struck plane. Kansas City has distinction of being among popular conference and convention cities of CONUS – all that empty square lands smack in the middle of both coasts. A good place to get agoraphobia too. Corn fields up the wazoo all the way to the lonely horizon; discombobulating. I made a point of ignoring Truman’s hometown and library/museum!
Now what are the odds a chopper zeroed on a plane in the busy and hypersensitive nation’s capital, and containing some of the most famous Russian ice skaters alive? So soon, more vicious daggers, after Kamila Valieva?? I smell a satanic stacked function, and more messaging, using low hanging fruit. Let’s see what Brother Casey digs up in a day or so.

Russian information operations outside of the Western information environment (Revised version)
This report, drawing from research, qualitative and quantitative data, Key Insight Interviews (KIIs), digital tools, and Russian information and deception doctrine, explores the Kremlin’s IIOs in non-Western environments using five selected countries as case studies: Egypt, Mali, Kenya, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The initial set of countries were selected based on their international importance and to represent a cross-section of critical national issues pertinent to Russian information operations, which include food insecurity (Egypt, Mali, Kenya), energy security (UAE), trade and investment relationship with Russia (Mali, Egypt, UAE), military aspects (Mali), and political relevance to the West and Ukraine. The political regime of the countries concerned and stability of governments was also considered.
This is a revised research report version updated with country case studies analyzing Kremlin information operations in five countries: Egypt, Mali, Kenya, South Africa, United Arab Emirates. The first report version is available here. https://stratcomcoe.org/pdfjs/?file=/publications/download/Russian-info-operations-DIGITAL-V2.pdf?zoom=page-fit

This is what real “democracy” is about. The #German Bundestag is set to vote on whether to initiate proceedings to ban the AfD party.
A total of 113 out of 736 MPs have formally petitioned the Constitutional Court to rule the AfD unconstitutional.
If the court decides in favor of a ban, the party would lose all its seats in parliament and regional assemblies, and its assets could be confiscated.

KeymasterMusk is building Hitlerian circumstances – the G7 (Canada is now the stepchild momentarily) are strengthening themselves in a populist witchery – they want to refight the war, but this time with Germany on their side and perhaps not a kinetic war, but a technological war. Don’t know if many see that, but this is the reason that Karaganov says .. Break their Backs.
This is a pure AI development of that movie.
The unseen part of maga is a psychological war drive – something fierce. Musk is into the UK as well.

i linked it a couple of days ago addresses why you cannot run the same amount of light crude in a refinery designed to run medium or heavy crude.
america refused to allow alberta her own refineries, insisting she ship it to texas/louisanna. O dear.
-
February 3, 2025 at 12:28 #51312

ParticipantThe heavy crude from the tar sands is bitumen… like peanut butter, sorta. Here’s some stuff about transport>
https://www.globalresearch.ca/shipping-crude-oil-by-rail-new-front-in-tar-sands-wars/5360776m
From my chemistry days…I guess the solvents are mostly naptha or even propane / butane . Vapor pressure of solutions is more or less linear, ie solvent like propane dissolves in the bitumen and no pressure is needed to keep it from boiling off….but it makes the solution sorta fizzy, and if it spills it’s really easy to get a vapor cloud and an air-fuel explosion and a fire.
Bitumen has a whole lotta carbon. This means a refinery has to crack the molecules. That takes a lot of energy. The residual carbon, called petroleum coke, is useful in steel making. Obviously the solvents are recovered, but it makes the process complicated. I don’t know if the solvents are sent back to Canada for reuse…maybe. Or maybe they’re reformed into gasoline, etc.
That’s about all I remember. That and Petcoke is really nasty to work with. (Yes I have done work with petcoke)

ParticipantEmerson,
wrt tariffs … I’m not an economist, and don’t play one online … 😉
but I know a tariff is a tax … ultimately punishes the consumer
(and at the moment, US Tariffs are being dictated by one man – also known as ‘taxation without representation’ ——— if ol’ brain remembers correctly my ancestors fought the Brits about that same thing)
These days I try to post for others to discuss (makin’ me some what of a ‘driveby poster … as ol’ brain is tired and expressed thoughts look like word salad.
I hope you are well, and moving toward your goal to relocate … sending you light and good thoughts.

Participantblessings, dear cronetoo! lol i too am a drive by poster! thank you for your thoughts, i am well & so far relocation proceeds accordingly. i look forward to the time when you share your experience…impact, cause, diagnosis, treatment recovery & renewal. 🕊️
you are spot on regarding tariffs, as richard wolff repeatedly clarifies. canada’s heavy oil may prove a tar baby for the orange wrecking crew…fingersXed they haven’t planned on using venezuela’s.
canada’s reaction to the tariffs is pleasantly refreshing, all the attention paid to celebrating canuck day & organizing the kinder to wave flags & dance about shouting we are different, & in spite of appearances we are not american seems to have had some effect. journalists & ‘experts’ that signed on for vaccines, applauding nazis in the house, 404, & appallingly negating genocide! are now publishing ways & means of creating new trading partners & alliances. heaven above–some have mentioned china…& petitioning to join brics! woke blowback appears to be union-jack outta dah box.
i read, the revolting orange dumpster linked aid to ukraine with a supply of rare earth minerals? i need to re-visit the map but i thought the rare earth minerals were in Donbas?

ParticipantWell, politics does make for strange bedfellows, but you can’t just throw the baby out with the bathwater (pardon the excessive proverbialization).
As of now, I do believe AfD is the best alternative for Germany, because of their position on Ukraine, as well as policies that are focused on the well-being of their own people. Musk’s support should not disqualify them, in my opinion. Just as his and Trump’s support for RFK Jr. is to be lauded. And revelations such as “…USAID, using YOUR tax dollars, funded bioweapon research, including COVID-19.”
In the video Mr P posted, I see the grandmas marching against the “right”, in front of the Reichstag – boy, that rings a bell. On a “cold day” at about 0 deg. C. Which in Canada, just having had -20C, is like a heat wave! Seems like the usual gaslighting.
When it comes to trade, I don’t think it has dawned on the US that it is a double edged sword. This is from our (Canadian) Transport and Internal Trade Minister Anita Anand (emphasis mine):
“If pushed, our response will be the single largest trade blow the U.S. economy has ever endured, given that Canada is America’s largest export market — larger than China, Japan, the U.K. and France combined,”

ParticipantThe timing suggests a possible deliberate nature of the pandemic and US involvement in its outbreak…Ah geewhiz, what about the “vaping” deaths? https://thewhiterose.uk/good-death-the-midazolam-murders-documentary/
How is USAID Linked to Secret Bioweapons Research? (yewbetcha, but it was a poorly guarded “secret”)

Keymaster“And with that gas gone…”
one of the absolute cruelest fates is to outlive one’s dominance, and times.
And the more arrogant and self-aggrandizing the old, the harder the fall.
A gentle, slow, long descent back to normalcy is to be desired, at all costs.
The alternative is too terrible to contemplate.
And that is precisely what they’ve maneuvered themselves into! What was considered as barbaric, and invariably administered by the new clique on the former dominant clique or subjugated people — the ritual murder of the old elites, to ease into begin the new dispensation, may actually be a mercy!
Witness the alternative today — the acceleration of madness, of inconsolable suicidal thrashings and futile flailing about. These merely delay the inevitable, and add to the collective price on the societies of the recalcitrant elite.
