South Africa: BRICS
Two leaders sat down together. One was the critical teacher throwing up half-truths, the other was the guilty trying to get away with it.
This is a list of issues that came up during the meeting, and we don’t know if the South African trade negotiators will get away with retaining the free trade agreement, AGAO. During the meeting, it was stated that AGOA supports 500,000 people, but the last statistics I saw, were +90,000 direct. I hope they retain this, as the South African youth unemployment rate is around 60%, and the average unemployment rate is in excess of 32%. The freedom fighters of old did not do well when they needed to govern. The place is in a state of rack and ruin, and the penny is dropping.
Is there genocide in South Africa? No, and nobody says so besides Trump. It is a deep irony that Trump accuses Ramaphosa of a pretend genocide in the country, while not saying a word about the actual genocide that we all see daily. So while Gaza bleeds, Trump points fingers at the wrong country, for the wrong crime, to protect the right war criminal.
What there is, though, is a slow killing of white farmers (farmers are white in the main, as the myth of love of the land from the black community is a myth). The kill rate increases if the song Kill the Boer is sung in large groups. It is a prudent management of keeping it just within what society can bear. There is not one farmer that does not know someone who has been attacked, raped, tortured and killed. This was clearly explained to Trump in his ‘come to the deity’ meeting at the white house. At times, these attackers do not even loot or steal. What is different about these killings is the brutality, and while the crime rate is sky high, this crime rate is much higher plotted against other segments of the population. In other words, many more white farmers are killed than for example gas station attendants, or flower shop owners.
There are laws, racist laws, keeping whites out of the workplace. They hide these under so-called restitution, but nobody looking for a job now has anything to do with apartheid.
What there is is a racism that seethes against the whites in the ANC circles. Yes, whites can be hated as well, and racism is not only a black thing, and it is not forgivable against blacks or against whites or Palestinians. It was not correct during apartheid, and it is not correct now. I spent two years in South Africa fifteen years ago, having left the first time even before the freedom election in 1994. When I left, I was glad to escape the crime, the sheer drudgery of living behind walls with eyes needed in the back of your head and electrical protective measures with a strengthened safe room somewhere that had phones and equipment so that it could not easily be broken into, so one could call for help. I was tired of the inability stop at a stop or a light, but to slow down a distance before, check your weapon just with a swipe of your hand because it is ready anyway, and slowly drive forward so that one can put foot down and get away if you are mob attacked at the stop. One gets weary of the neighborhood watches with weapons and all the mod cons like drones to keep areas under surveillance, although drones were not a thing in my time. Then, there is the sign that you must keep your eyes open in more rural areas. It could be an empty crisp packet placed in a manner that is ‘the sign’, i.e., if you can read it, you will know when you are on the roster for an attack.
This morning, all the left-wing papers are full of nonsense, such as people don’t understand the social meaning of the Shoot the Boer song. It does not mean Shoot the Boer, they say. So, what does it mean then? And if I start singing Rape the Women of Zion (a very crude example for illustration only!) and say it does not mean that, who will believe me? As I said before, the ANC did not turn into a government, and after 30 years, they have not managed to govern. They now need to go. After the previous election, when they lost their majority, they had about 48% of the vote. It has now dropped to 30%. Ramaphosa’s excuse that the song and the grouping are a small minority is not valid. It is not even true. The 2024 elections:
DA (main opposition) : 21.81%
EFF + MK: 24.1%. So, 24% is Ramaphosa’s small minority.
A few more comments for the list. The Black Empowerment legislation is not Black Empowerment, but an enrichment scheme. Search it out. This country of South Africa now has its ‘right to work’ by racial classification. The new schools act is designed to deprive the minority (all minorities) of instruction in their home language. The land laws are designed to take good land from others without paying for it. The oft-mentioned statistic that the whites own 70% of the land is nonsense. One can easily research these.
But that is not the focus of this short writing. What the focus must remain on, is what happened in that meeting regarding trade. We saw Ramaphosa try a few times to change Trump’s trajectory to trade. Rampies (little tiny male goat) is not an oily man, and he presents well, but eventually, he even sounded like an oily beggar. I have asked why the BRICS countries do not trade with South Africa? They know about the Capture of the State into deep ANC pockets. There is no trust. So, South Africa is in a position where it needs to beg Trump for Trade. Ramaphosa offered rare earth minerals, he referred to the good trade done under AGOA, and rode hard on the fact that they are friends and have been friends for a long time. He tried to hit Trump’s high points and said he invited Zelensky to South Africa so he could teach him how to make peace, based on Nelson Mandela’s teachings. (Yeah! Let’s call up the dead ones.) Then, he begged that the US, Trump specifically, should not boycott the G20 meeting at the end of the year in Durban (because the 3 working road in Johannesburg are now so potholed that they cannot host the G20 there). He emotionally told Trump that he, Ramaphosa, wants to personally hand over the Chair of the G20 to Trump himself.
With the previous G20, BRICS took it. We wrote about it. It is now a BRICS shop in the main.

We can now, with confidence, say that the G20 is a BRICS hangout, with invited visitors.

This G20 in Rio was all about the power of the Global South, with poverty eradication and genuine economic progress trumping the old G7 agendas of war, profit, and arm-twisting.
So Ramaphosa, knowing that, invited the hegemon right back into the G20, with heart and deep emotion (and indeed some acting training through the years). South Africa, while having major power outages themselves, supplies their best coal to Israel and to the EU by shiploads. I declined to see the ‘receipts’ and don’t want to have them or see them, because the ICJ court case against Netanyahu and his main genocidaires was a finagle between Iran and South Africa. Iran paid for services rendered. I only know of one set of South African hands in that pot and of nobody else because I did not want to know. Some information one does not wish to have. Many media outlets wrote about the one set of hands in there. That was the previous South African FM after she lost her seat during the last elections, so she was acting for the ANC and not for the South African government. See, for the ANC, it is the Party Über Alles. Read this again: Iran did not pay the South African government, but the story goes that they paid the ANC itself to start the genocide case against Israel. Based on that, the one cartoon artist created a Ramaphosa couch bursting with dollars stuck in there. The ICJ case is now scheduled for somewhere in the distant future, and Netanyahu will remain an unpunished genocidaire. I really do not know who broke the story, but it was feverishly published by all, including business councils.
The locals are happy that this sad story about the Afrikaners broke, and out of Trump’s office. They are not blind to Trump’s peccadillos, but it was the first government to pay attention to them since the freedom election when things started going down, after Mandela died. His Rainbow Nation did not survive his death, and the principles of a fair and balanced country did not last.
It still breaks my heart. I was a founder member of the first multiracial political party in the country. Highly illegal at the time, but we did it anyway. At our first party congress, the hall became too small. We sat in rows on the floor, hung through the windows, and had 3 times as many people as expected: whites, blacks, Indians, and people of all rainbow nation stripes. A woman spoke up to the shiver of all of us. She stood up, and the tears were flowing, and all she said was; Thank you! Thank you for giving all of us in our country a political home.
There was a hunger in the hearts of us in that country for change, living reasonably with our countrymen and women, and fixing the inequalities. To live without war, and the USSR and China supplying weapons to terrorists and to those who would kill. Now they sing, Kill the Boer! You’ll never believe me who is on the side of Kill the Boer. Some serious Gulf Country Muslim groups.
Trump made a toffee out of Ramaphosa, and Ramaphosa made a toffee out of BRICS.
Quo Vadis? ¿A dónde vas? We should move to Ebrahim Traorés Hood.
