Daily Chronicles

The Daily Chronicles are snippets of the most important news across the world for this and each day as it rolls in – as such, this thread is non-structured with the latest news on top. The rough theme for this Daily Chronicles:  Machiavelli

But since it is difficult for a ruler to be both feared and loved, it is much safer to be feared than loved, if one of the two must be lacking. For this can generally be said of men: that they are ungrateful, fickle, liars and deceivers, avoiders of danger, greedy for profit; and as long as you serve their welfare, they are entirely yours, offering you their blood, possessions, life and children…when the occasion to do so is not in sight; but when you are faced with it, they turn against you. And that prince who lays his foundations on their promises alone, finding himself stripped of other preparations, falls to ruin… For men are less concerned with hurting someone who makes himself loved than one who makes himself feared, because love is held by a link of obligation which, since men are wretched creatures, is broken every time their own interests are at stake; but fear is held by a dread of punishment which will never leave you.

A Mexican drug cartel with style:

Mexican Drug Cartel Apologizes for Kidnapping & Killing US Citizens, Turns in Gang Members Responsible (reports)

The Scorpions Group – a splinter faction of the Gulf Cartel – ‘strongly condemned’ the actions of ‘undisciplined’ members involved in the fatal armed abduction (https://t.me/RT_India_official/13838) last week and handed them over to authorities, according to a letter obtained by Associated Press.

It also accused the individuals of breaking the cartel’s rules over ‘protecting the lives of the innocent’ – a photo of 5 men bound and face down on the pavement accompanied the letter.

Several US senators have recently called for 🇺🇸military intervention to curb Mexican drug cartels – 🇲🇽 President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has denounced the appeals saying it would meddle with the country’s sovereignty.

What is missing in all the reports about this incident, are details about the tourists.  And that is a whole other story.  The little that I could obtain, is that the four of them all have been busted for drugs before, and that so far, there was no reason for them to be where they were.  They had no destination, far as I can see, only one of them said she was going for a tummy tuck.  The subsequent statements of US lawmakers are as bloodthirsty as ever.

Iran, Saudi Arabia: This is fascinating.  Trilateral, so the Chinese played some role.  Here is the piece at Tasnim:  https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2023/03/10/2865380/iran-saudi-arabia-reach-d%C3%A9tente-in-china

Friday March 10

The hypocrisy of the EU and the West – Lavrov commented on the events in Georgia on the air of the program «Большая игра» on Channel One:

– Borrell’s statements on the situation in Georgia are hypocritical. The situation around the bill on foreign agents was only a reason for the beginning of an attempt to force a change of power

– The attitude of the West to the opposition protests in Georgia and Moldova is fundamentally different

– Russia’s neighbors should draw conclusions from how dangerous the course of involvement in the zone of interests of the United States is

– The events in Georgia are “orchestrated” from the outside, they are pushed by the desire to create an irritant at the borders of Russia

– In the West, they were waiting for an excuse to “cling” to Russia.

There was a vote in the US House on withdrawing troops from Syria.  Overwhelming NO – too much oil to pilfer I guess.

Russian Retaliatory strike

Russia stated that due to what happened in the Bryansk region of their country, Moscow launched a massive retaliatory strike overnight across all of Ukraine.  We will get updates from the Russian MoD.

UPDATE:

💥In response to the terrorist acts in the Bryansk region organised by the Kiev regime on 2 March this year, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a massive retaliatory strike.

💥High-precision, long-range air-, sea- and land-based weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system, hit key elements of Ukraine’s military infrastructure, defence and industrial complex enterprises, as well as energy facilities that support them.

💥The purpose of the strike has been achieved. All the assigned targets have been neutralised. The strike destroyed unmanned drone strike sites, disrupted the movement of reserves and railway transport of foreign weapons, and impeded military repair and ammunition production facilities.

The Pentagon is blocking the U.S. from sharing evidence on Russian atrocities in Ukraine with the International Criminal Court, officials said. Military leaders fear setting a precedent that might pave the way for it to prosecute Americans. nyti.ms/3J1SOPB

They’ve just put themselves in an unwinnable position.

The US government wants to attack Russia at the International Criminal Court, but is afraid of legitimizing it, because US officials could be tried for their own, endless war crimes. (The US still is not a party to the Rome Statute that established the ICC).  Also, they cannot afford a real investigation into ‘Russian atrocities’ as their own atrocities may then be brought into the light.

Comments from Xi Jinping and Qin Gang are arguably the most important of these days.  The growing consensus is that the meaning is that China has accepted that it cannot be a partner of the US and in a Machiavellian way, the US speaks one language and does another.  Xi Jinping talks about the harm to humanity which Ben Norton explains in his video.  This will be the basis of how China reforms its diplomatic relations, in order to oppose a single hegemon and the threat to China.

Four US citizens went to Mexico.  They got themselves in a drug cartel shootout says the first story.  Two died, one is injured and the other is alive.  This story is amazing enough in this explanation of it, as cartels do not necessarily mess with or mix with ordinary travelers.  Now the story has morphed and they were kidnapped, says the press.  The Mexican cartels have long since stopped with a kidnapping racket because it brought too much trouble for them.  (No, I don’t have press on this, just gossip, but also there were no kidnappings in years).    Mexico is always a cheap punchbag for US lawmakers so, they are using this sad event of course.  Lindsey Graham, a senator, is now discussing legislation to designate Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and authorize the use of military force against them (ON MEXICAN SOIL).  So, they want to fall into Mexico which does them no harm.  This senator has support for this.  I don’t know what those tourists were doing.   If I blunder into the wrong area in the US, I may also be done away with.

Graham says he will introduce bill to ‘set the stage’ for US to use military force in Mexico

This is too funny:

Wednesday, March 8

Dmitry Peskov:  Western media reports seeking to identify those responsible for explosions that ruptured the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines have the hallmarks of a synchronized misinformation campaign.

Of course a “pro-Ukrainian group” was behind the September attack on the pipelines,  It’s called the US.

Nevertheless the new dossier is being built to pin the tail not on the donkey, but on Ukraine.  https://www.rt.com/news/572636-west-knows-nord-stream-culprit/

(Soon we will see pics of perfect seawater-preserved passports with their diving certification in a pocket and they will be picked up on the seabed from the bottom of the ocean just underneath the break in the Nordstream pipes.)

US Proxy Jailed in Cambodia for Treason Amid US Meddling Region-wide in Asia

▪️US meddling is far from confined to Ukraine as part of its proxy war with Russia. The US pursues a similar policy against China by targeting nations all across China’s periphery;

▪️US government through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and its subsidiaries has sponsored opposition parties and organizations in Cambodia for years including Kem Sokha’s Cambodian National Rescue Party;

▪️In 2017 Kem Sokha openly admitted to working with the US to overthrow the Cambodian government in a Washington-sponsored Serbia-style color revolution;

▪️Cambodia has now jailed Kem Sokha for 27 years for treason;

▪️The US government, Western media, and Western “rights” groups in concert are falsely claiming the charges are “fabricated,” illustrating how the West uses human rights advocacy as a smokescreen to advance US foreign policy objectives;

Wednesday, March 8

Artemovsk – This morning, Yevgeny Prigozhin reported that Russian forces have taken control of the entire eastern part of the city.

There is however still many competing views here, and we have to wait for the Russian MoD for such an announcement.

Wednesday, March 8

Georgia – The USA and the West want to organize a coup d’état in Georgia! In this revolutionary scenario, subversive groups launched from Ukraine are actively participating.
They have their very powerful well-financed non-governmental organizations, liberal-nationalist, and Russophobic groups in Georgia, which have the greatest informational-technological mechanisms for instrumentalizing people’s moods.
But if the government is not able to prevent the color revolutionary scenario planned by the US State Department, the US Embassy in Georgia and the European Parliament, the healthy conservative, anti-liberal wing of the Georgian society is ready to resist and suppress the revolutionary scenario announced by the Anglo-Saxons, which aims at provoking conflict escalation in the Caucasus region.

The jokes go that Cookies Nuland is baking already.

Western countries are openly whipping up a violent mob to stop a law that would simply identify their agents.

Code of honor of a Russian officer.  Compiled in 1904, and relevant forever. 1. Do not promise if you are not sure that you will keep the promise. 2. 1. (derogatory, figuratively) troublemaker
2. (historical) shit stick (small piece of wood or bamboo used to clean the anus after defecation)
