Daily Chronicles

The Daily Chronicles are snippets of the most important news across the world for this and each day as it rolls in – as such, this thread is non-structured with the latest news on top. The rough theme for this Daily Chronicles: Thick Dark Clouds of Information War (aka, hot and cold running westerners)

Friday, March 3

China Demands that the US Abandon Taiwan Weapons Delivery Plan

“We demand that the US stop selling arms to Taiwan, stop military contact with Taiwan, stop meddling in the Taiwan question and exacerbating tensions across the Taiwan Straits,” said Tan Kefei, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense.

The statement followed the news that the US government has approved a potential $619 million arms sale to the island.

I was wondering when this would happen – When the professional soldiers cannot shoot old men and children as pushed into conscription by Ukraine.  So, here it is …  Yevgeny Prigozhin is encouraging Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to let Kiev’s forces retreat from Artyomovsk

He added that previously the Wagner group had been fighting a professional Ukrainian army, but is now instead coming across more and more old men and children. “They are fighting, but life under Bakhmut is short. A day or two,” Prigozhin said.

The Wagner chief urged the Ukrainian president to allow them to leave the city as the camera pans to what appear to be captured Ukrainian soldiers. Among them is a man with a long gray beard and two very young-looking men.

Blinken’s nose is growing again ..:

Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova regarding State Secretary Anthony Blinken’s remarks on “on the go” encounter with Foreign Minister Lavrov “on the sidelines” of the G20 Ministerial:

💬 Oh, how interesting.

I asked Mr Lavrov if Blinken brought up the issue of Whelan yesterday.

It turns out that the US Secretary of State did not even mention the matter. Everything the Department of State said yesterday (https://www.state.gov/secretary-antony-j-blinken-at-a-press-availability-30/) about Blinken expressing concern about the US citizen’s situation was a lie.

What incredible behaviour by the US administration.

Thursday, March 2

This is certainly a bombshell. The Russian State Duma called for a declaration of war on Ukraine: Sobolev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense, said that Russia “absolutely” needs to end “SMO” and “start a real war.”

Thursday, March 2

President Vladimir Putin has described as a “terrorist attack” an incident in Russia’s Bryansk Region that involved Ukrainian saboteurs. The statement came after the provincial governor and national security service reported a cross-border raid targeting two settlements earlier on Thursday.

Gunmen “infiltrated the border area and opened fire at civilians. They could see the vehicle was civilian, that civilians were inside, children… and opened fire,” the Russian leader said.

A few examples on information war:

RT gets it again under new sanctions: RT & Parent Company Fall Under EU Sanctions.  The EU steals again: Brussels is seizing the funds and assets belonging to RT in Europe, including legal persons associated with the company.

and the reason?

The EU has claimed that RT’s news undermines the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.  (This is nonsensical of course)

Tuesday, February 28

I told you .. they want to kick Russia out of the UN Security Council

US Lawmakers Submit a bipartisan draft resolution to kick Russia off the UN Security Council

and the reason?

(And how many brutal wars has the US carried out?)

Tuesday, February 28

Yellen visits Zelenski (and hollywood style, the air raid siren goes off again, for no reason).  Why?  To tell Zelenski to spend US Aid responsibly (and they want us to believe that).  “Minister Yellen expressed support for the creation of an interdepartmental coordination platform of donors to help Ukraine,” says the formal statement.

Tuesday, February 28

In an article published last week titled “US working with ‘Five Eyes’ nations, Japan on information warfare,” a publication on military intelligence and communications technology called C4ISRNET reports that the US and its allies are collaborating “to share and sharpen information-warfare techniques in the Indo-Pacific” with the goal of “countering” the “increasingly aggressive China.” https://caityjohnstone.medium.com/us-power-alliance-says-its-coordinating-an-information-war-against-china-3f1b8732b468

Briefing by the Chief of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops of Russian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov on the West preparations for large-scale provocations involving toxic chemicals in Ukraine – they have the names and the deliveries of the toxic chemicals

https://telegra.ph/Briefing-by-the-Chief-of-Nuclear-Biological-and-Chemical-Protection-Troops-of-Russian-Armed-Forces-Lieutenant-General-Igor-Kiril-02-28

Tuesday, February 28

There is a change in Russian rhetoric.  They now take the complete NATO as a bloc :  Peskov states:   “The world is moving towards multipolarity , where there is no division of countries into “castes” of civilized and others.  Now NATO acts as a single bloc no longer as our conditional opponents, but as enemies.”
This has major implications both on who is responsible for the Ukrainian war, and also in terms of weapons.  Russia will not negotiate with the US for example, they would treat the US as part of the bloc.

Nord Stream Blasts Harmed Baltic Wildlife — Scientists

The destruction of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines did not just cut off the flow of Russian natural gas to western Europe; it killed and poisoned the already endangered fish and marine mammal species in the Baltic Sea, says a new report by Danish, Polish, and German scientists.

Two pipes of Nord Stream 1 and one line of Nord Stream 2 were blown up in late September 2022 in what Moscow has called an act of international terrorism. According to a study conducted by the Aarhus University in Denmark, the “four explosions” stirred up the surrounding seabed, including the area previously used to dump toxic waste.

“This could mean that fish that have been exposed to substances [such as lead and TBT] will become ill. There are some of them who will die, and there are some of them who will have difficulty reproducing,” Hans Sanderson from the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus told the Copenhagen Post.

Tuesday, February 28

There are major anti-war, anti-weapons to Ukraine and anti-NATO protests in Europe.  The Grayzone reports.

South Africa faces a possible “civil war” due to possibility of power grid collapse. President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national “state of disaster” on February 9th.  I cannot contact my contacts there .. I get short messages, no power, no internet.

Hot and cold running westerners:  Blinken is visiting Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India. “It will be my first time as Secretary visiting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan — and I look forward to advancing our Central Asian partnerships. From there, I’ll head to India for the #G20 Ministerial.”  He also promised Yemen some money.

India who holds the chair of the G20 is again trying to cool heads before the meeting starts, so that some work can be done, and it is not again, like the recent Finance minister’s meetings, a full ode to Ukraine and Zelenski.

Cookies Nuland is visiting Nigeria .  We discussed Nigeria’s upcoming elections and our shared efforts to advance human rights, Nigerian security, and our growing partnership.  It is worth scrolling through her tweets, to see the new charm offensive that is being run by the US State.

These two, Blinken and Nuland follow in Lavrov’s footsteps to save what they can save.

China calls out nonsense.  US ambassador’s Wolf Warrior-style ‘nonsense’ about China causes strong dissatisfaction among business circle.

There was again a spate of anti-Lula press, alleging that he would not allow the two Iranian warships on their sail around the world, to dock in Rio.  That was untrue.

Sitting on the Dock in Rio: Brazil Ignores US Pressure & Lets In Iranian Ships

The vessels have reportedly been given permission to stay in Brazil’s waters from Feb 26 till March 4. (Reuters)

The IRIS Makran and IRIS Dena were admitted Sunday, weeks after being denied entry in the run-up to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s first meeting with Joe Biden.

The presence of Iranian vessels in Brazil has irked Washington – which alleges they facilitate terrorist activities and illegal trade.

In addition, Iran is creating a military presence in the Panama canal.

This type of conversation is now happening daily between China and the US. Compare:

The State Department is concerned by China. Ned Price: “We are concerned that China is considering providing assistance to Russia in the form of lethal weapons for use in Ukraine. For a number of reasons, including the fact that this will have an impact on the battlefield inside Ukraine. China is trying to maintain a semblance of neutrality. But we saw how China very clearly took the side of Russia in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict”

The US has no right to attack Sino-Russian relations. These are typical Washington unilateral sanctions that harm China’s interests. In no case do we intend to tolerate threats and pressure from the United States.
Mao Ning, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on US threats regarding China’s military assistance to Russia.

Pepe and I vibrated to the same wavelength. I think this piece was his goodbye to the Saker site. The last chapter of my Africa paper was also entitled Civilizational and features the Chinese Hegemony paper. Such a dangerous moment. Amarynth, I disagree. The first post apartheid election was won by a coalition of the ANC, unions and the SA communist party, their intentions were fair. “City on a Hill”; comes from the metaphor used by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Here is the wording of Matthew 5:15–16 from the 16th century Geneva Bible that would have been used by Puritans coming to America: “Ye are the light of the world. A city that… Read more »

Thanks for pointing out where the roots of the Amewreckan ideological mindset of Manifest Destiny, exceptionalism and indispensability came from, a supposed Sacred Text of Western Christian belief. What a way to justify Western “rules based international order” in being a Hegemon. Thanks again.

Your reference to Puritans reminded me of this from Mencken – “Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy”.

They’re certainly making sure that there’s a lot of unhappy people in the world.

Amarynth, “I must go down to the sea again” was the introduction to a autobiography of a British sailor, Chichester, something like that.
