So, the US is on hard attack against China, saying China is or will be or is considering supplying weapons to Russia.  So, now they are sanctioning Russia, and China .. just because.  US to announce new package of sanctions against Russia on February 24, sanctions will be introduced against Chinese companies as well – Nuland

The WSJ has a piece headed:  “U.S. to Expand Troop Presence in Taiwan for Training Against China”.  So, they say they accept that Taiwan is part of China, but now they extend their troop presence.

I’ll spend my day analyzing the comments to Mr.Putin’s speech and post up a number of smaller articles.  The formal readout is now posted.

The US is holding ‘secret’ talks with Taiwan while a Taiwanese delegation visited China and said clearly they are not working for independence.

Outstanding in this point in our world, is real information, by that I mean formal read-outs, of Wang Yi’s visit to Moscow.  So far, it is all good and a true love fest that started with meetings with Patrushev and Lavrov is smiling.

The Putin Speech – The largest part was mostly internal Russian affairs, after a very emotional start.  I have most of it written down and will post it up when it is cleaned up.

Here are the bombshells:

❗️❗️The latest ground-based missile systems are being put on combat duty.

❗️❗️Russia has just suspended its participation in the strategic offensive arms treaty.

❗️❗️Russia is ready to resume nuclear weapons testing (if the US goes for similar tests).

We need a moment to understand those three statements.

And at the very same hour as Mr Putin’s address, China released their Global Security Initiative Concept Paper

It is almost as if Mr Putin said … This is what you’ve done … and China says … Now, here is how you fix it!

Let’s start a new Daily Chronicles (usually alive for 3 days or so) by taking a quick look at the US Rage Against the War Machine protest yesterday at the iconic Washington Lincoln Memorial venue that we all know from Vietnam war protests, even if we’ve seen it only in movies.

Billed as a ‘massive protest’, with a good and even spectacular line-up of speakers and a well-developed list of demands, I looked in from time to time on various live streams, only to find that I could not see more than 500 or so people at any one time and perhaps say 2 to 3 thousand at max.   Checking the various conservative sites, I did not see this protest advertised or talked about anywhere.  The only person with a real reach that spoke about it, was Tucker Carlson.   Compared with anti-war protests anywhere else in the world, this was a very small number of people.  This was supposed to be across political lines with one focus, Anti-War.

Most USAmericans like being at war, or they don’t care at all, are the only conclusions that I can come to for this moment.   While there were wonderful speakers, a lack of the historical and geo-political grounding for the Russian SMO was just painful to listen to.   There were also rumors in the run-up that the divisions between groups were very deep.  A change will not come from the American population but will be forced by geo-political and economic changes.

Key points from Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov’s daily briefing:

▪️Russian-Moldovan relations are very tense with Chisinau slipping into anti-Russian hysteria, the lack of constructiveness harms relations.

▪️The Moldovan authorities should be careful in their assessments of the Transnistrian settlement, where Russia continues to fulfil its duties.

▪️Trust level in Pres Putin rise to 79% includes consolidation of society around the president at the current difficult moment.

So now we wait and see what change comes from Pres Putin’s speeches tomorrow after that spectacular approval rating.

Biden is supposed to be in Poland or on the way, and the rumor mill is strong that he will visit Kiev.  Some say that he is there now:  “Biden arrived in Kyiv. He held a meeting with Zelensky in the Mikhailovsky Cathedral.”  None of this can be confirmed at this time.

UPDATE: Yes indeed, Biden is blowing new air into their war .. As Long As It Takes (we’ve spoken about this narrative change already) and $500 more aid package in Support.  In addition, Japan is offering 5 Billion or so.

Members of the Knesset arrived at the same time, also offering loans.  And the head of the IMF.

This week all the pundits, commentators, and analysts will talk about the 1 year anniversary of the SMO.  Brian Berletic always does a good job and this video is very thorough.  Ukraine is out of weapons and the big talk from the EU and Europe in general about sending weapons and tanks and war planes seems to be only big talk – the west, one after the other, say they have none, not even what they promised.  Brian uses the word ‘unraveling’ and that is possibly the best description.  Are we at the point where Russia emaciated NATO and the Ukraine?  Are we there yet?

There is quite a bit of chaos — Poland wants to be the next proxy, Moldova and Transnistria area is heating up and the efforts to maintain a perpetual war are continuing.
