Tech Stuff .. The Hearty Salon
Log-ins are changing with the advent of the Hearty Salon. AHH will be mainly in charge there.
If you want to post in the forum, you need to be logged-in. You can comment on other postings and create your own topics.
By creating yourself as a user, and logging-in to the main site, your credentials will automatically carry over to the forum.
So here is how to create a user on the main site. It is a simple and normal process.
In your browser, go to the login screen at https://thesakeris.global/wp-login.php:
Click on “Register” at the bottom.
Enter desired username and email. Click Register.
Check your email for a link to continue with registration.
Click on first link to set your password.
Click log-in to log in to the site.
And I wonder if people noticed the comment search. At the first comment of each posting or article, it looks like this_
@AHH Amarynth 🙂 So to clarify for me… The log-in process is ONLY for the Salon, right? the normal comment section here will remain the same, NO Need log-in… OR are you planing to turn the whole blog to require “log-in for reply’? congrats on the new ‘growth’ 🙂 be… Read more »
Yes, for the Salon – here on the blog, you can continue posting as usual. But I think I’ll make a special thingie for you .. given that there are walls in the way.
Awwww… special for me??? 😛 nah dear… it all good 🙂 I think I will show my ‘S” in public, should ‘they’ want to ‘get me’ I am naked as ‘S’ 😛 Nothing to Hide Nothing in Form really … FIND the REAL me in NOTHINGNESS!!! (if ‘they’ can) …… Read more »
While trying the new Salon a password is needed. Being already logged in, without a password, I typed my email address as the password. Now, two attempts are left for me to type an imaginary password.
This is getting needlessly complicated.
You have not registered according to the procedure that I posted. That procedure will give you a password. Take it easy and follow it through. It is about the same as every registration process on the internet.
Sudhi, go to the top right of the home page, click the 3 dots, a “register” option will come up, just go through the process from scratch. You’ll get an email that directs you to the register page. Delete the offered password and put in your own. A bit complex,… Read more »
Sudhi we are not considered “logged-in” when writing comments here or at any other regular post/ authored article. Unless you signed up for WordPress/Gravatar for an avatar like me or have your own website like some. Most can make up anything and just comment. With the new system, you start… Read more »
Steve and AHH #1 I went to the 3 dots top right and no “register” option came up. #2 Trying the other way takes me in a circle too, as I have lost my password and going through the reset password sequence I don’t get emailed the reset info. BTW… Read more »
Hi Col, No problem. Most of us are tech-challenged too. Try clicking on this link: https://thesakeris.global/wp-login.php it will start the entire registration process or allow to reset passwords (both at bottom) PS — look for emails they send misfiled in your Spam folder. If gmail is giving you the issue,… Read more »
Col, what AHH said !
: )
Col, now that I’m in the system the register option does not appear for me either. This might suggest that you are already in the system, but like you, I’m technically challenged. Try bluffing your way in, which won’t work, but might force the registry page to come up. Best… Read more »
Good point.
Col, if this is the same for you, try “logging out.” This option is usually available somewhere on each page, under “Meta” or on the link itself… Then the Register link reappears.. and we one-eyed Luddite men are kings in this kingdom!
Thanks for all your help guys… nothing seems to work. I think it is because of my LastPass (lastpass.com) password management system. It has glitched majorly for me before too in other similar situations. I had a friend installl it because I so am hopeless with passwords… well, guess what,… Read more »
I’ll do yours today as we did the previous time.
Thanks, Amarynth… no stress!
Where there’s a will, there’s a way! For all friends: When all else fails, I give it to my kids to solve. Even at age 5-6 one of the sharper ones knew more! Is it their sharper eyes, untamed minds, more agile wits, less inhibition with this tech, faster thumbs? Regardless, they… Read more »
Col, I don’t let an outside party anywhere near my passwords; I trust no-one.
I have a written list on my desk, with most of the characters missing, but enough there for me to fill in the blanks.
Sudhi, a second reply … I have to do a registration for someone else today (because of another circumstance) and if you are amenable, I’ll do yours as well.
Thank you, Amarynth. Please do my registration as well.
Though, it would be preferable to have the Salon on your main web-page similar to the Daily Chronicle.
This would be more convenient for everyone, especially newbies, to your website.
