Shoigu: Unpredictable escalation – the state of our world
This is indeed the message from the Russian general staff if one pays attention to the various releases and speeches. Although the story and narrarive now is around a settlement similar to the two Koreas, Russia is not talking to the west. As Lavrov said, they’re waiting for anyone serious. As a US background, the CEO of the Bank of America has said that they are preparing for a possible US Debt Default. I cannot say if this is simply pressure on congress to get their debt ceiling issues sorted out, as Janet Yellen has said the same. She is threatening a ‘global financial crisis’. I would say we are in it and have been in it since 2008 at least. But still the hegemon walks around threatening anyone that moves.
The US and its allies are actively trying to prolong the conflict between Moscow and Kiev for as long as possible, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu stated on Tuesday.
In order to ensure that the fighting continues, the West has begun delivering heavy weapons to Ukraine, while openly urging Kiev to capture Russian territories, Shoigu said, warning that “such moves are essentially dragging NATO countries into the conflict and could lead to an unpredictable escalation.”
Last month, the US, Germany, and a number of other NATO states announced that they will supply Ukraine’s forces with modern main battle tanks such as the Leopard 2 and the M1 Abrams. Washington also said it will supply Kiev with ground-launched small diameter bombs (GLSDB) with a range of up to 150km – which would allow Ukraine’s forces to strike targets deep within Russian territory.
Commenting on these deliveries, Shoigu stated on Tuesday that the Russian forces continue to “grind up” all the weapons and equipment being supplied to Kiev, noting that the equipment is being destroyed both on the routes of delivery and in combat positions.
Moscow has warned against providing increasingly advanced weapons to Ukraine, arguing that this will only lead to more bloodshed and will ultimately fail to change the outcome of the conflict.
Russia has also said that the West’s increasing involvement and Washington’s “reckless neo-colonialist expansionist policy” have put the world at risk of a devastating global war.
On Monday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the world is “sleepwalking” into a “wider war,” and called on all countries to recommit to the UN Charter and put human rights and dignity ahead of short-term thinking focused on economic interests and power.

The first issue is the progress in the special military operation.
The offensive operations, conducted by our forces in Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, have resulted in the liberation of Soledar, Kleshcheyevka, Podgornoye, Krasnopolye, Blagodatnoye, Lobkovoye, and Nikolayevka.
Currently, the operations are successfully developing near Ugledar and Artyomovsk.
The USA and its allies are trying to prolong the conflict as much as possible.
With this purpose, they have commenced to deliver heavy offensive armament, openly urging Ukraine to capture our territories. Indeed, this kind of steps involve NATO countries in the conflict, and can lead to an unpredictable level of its escalation.
The groups of Russian forces continue grinding all the armament and hardware, delivered to Kiev, both at the routes of their delivery, and at the combat positions.
Despite the unprecedented military support, provided by Western countries, the enemy is suffering considerable losses. Just within the first month of this year, the casualties were over 6,500 personnel, 26 airplanes, seven helicopters, 208 unmanned aerial vehicles, 341 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 40 fighting vehicles equipped with multiple-launch rocket systems.
Realising, that Russia will not be defeated militarily, the Ukrainian leadership continues resorting to the criminal action, aimed at intimidating civilians who reside in the new regions of Russia. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launch strikes against residential areas, hospitals, public gathering areas, commit terrorist acts at state and social facilities.
The barbaric nature of the Ukrainian leadership is also reflected by its reluctance to cease fire during the Orthodox Christmas. Within this period, the AFU cynically launched intensive attacks against settlements. The enemy had conducted a total of over 550 artillery and mortar attacks. The Ukrainian artillery had been being neutralised by Russian forces’ counterattacks.
We will continue providing safety to Russian citizens in the new regions, and protecting residents of Ukraine from the genocide, perpetrated by the Kiev regime.

Our next topic is the reconstruction of the Baikal–Amur Mainline.
Since April 2021, in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the Railway Troops have been involved in building the subgrade formation within the reconstruction of the Ulak–Fevralsk railway section with total length of 339 km.
The works involve over 1,000 military railway professionals, about 900 motor and special vehicles.
The subgrade formation is to be filled with a total of over 6 million m³ of soil.
Main and the most labour-intensive kinds of excavation works have been accomplished at 10 facilities of the railroad.
The gained pace and organisation of the construction works allow to have accomplished the state task within the established time frame.
Today, we will summarise the interim results, and outline further action.
And, while we are looking at Russia, they working in Syria as well as in Turkey after the devastating earthquakes. In Syria they seem to be using forces already present.

The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu gave instructions (https://t.me/mod_russia_en/6046) to the Commander of the Russian Group of Forces in Syria to provide assistance in eliminating the consequences caused by the earthquake that had occurred at the territory of the republic.
China has sent much aid and rescue teams as well, while in the US, they are trying to pick up the remnants of a balloon and I have not seen reports of assistance or help from the US or Britain or Europe. This is then the state of our world and we see clearly who is productive and who is non-productive. CNN says the ‘white helmets’ are doing the work of rescue in Syria.
