A little fun!

Venezuela will send its Foreign Minister to CELAC in Buenos Aires after learning of a plan “to carry out a series of aggressive actions” against President Nicholas Maduro and his delegation.
Everyone is very excited about this CELAC. It must have been some serious threats against the life of Maduro.

This quote from the 🇷🇺State Duma chairman, Volodin says it all. If the west escalates, Russia will escalate, and it won’t be proportional.
The supply of offensive weapons to the Kiev regime will lead to a global catastrophe —
✅The supply of offensive weapons to Kiev will force Russia to use more powerful weapons against Ukraine.
🟢If Washington and NATO countries supply arms that will be used to strike peaceful cities and attempt to seize our territories, as they threaten to do, this will lead to retaliation with more powerful weapons.
🟢Members of Congress, members of the Bundestag, the French National Assembly, and other European parliaments must realize their responsibility to humanity.
🟢By their decisions, Washington and Brussels are leading the world into a terrible war—a very different kind of warfare than today, where strikes are carried out exclusively against the military and critical infrastructure used by the Kiev regime.
🟢Given the technological superiority of Russian weapons, foreign politicians making such decisions need to understand that this could end in a global tragedy that would destroy their countries.
🟢✅Arguments that the nuclear powers have not previously used weapons of mass destruction in local conflicts are untenable. This is because these states have not faced a situation in which the security of their citizens and the territorial integrity of their countries were threatened.

Don’t expect UN voting from Beirut: Lebanon’s UN Voting Rights are revoked due to unpaid annual dues
Beirut must clear its arrears of $1.8mn to regain the rights, UN Sec-Gen Antonio Guterres said, even as the Middle Eastern country continues to fight an economic crisis.

China did it! They secured the lithium deposits in Bolivia and this will circle out to the other neighboring countries. (Now let’s see how much interference is coming this way).
Chinese Firm Seals Bolivia Lithium Mining Deal
Chinese battery company CATL is part of the consortium that won the bidding of the ultra-light metal used in electric vehicle (EV) batteries – with production expected to soar as fossil fuels are phased out.
Bolivian President Luis Arce declared it the launch of the “historic” industrialisation of the country’s huge and untapped lithium reserves, with more than $1bn to be invested in the project’s first phase, he said.
Partnerships with other foreign firms were also on the anvil – with front-runners from the US, Russia and China reportedly vying for deals. (Reuters)
The price of battery-grade lithium reached close to $85,000 a tonne in 2022.
And we have to watch this one closely.
Rare earth elements, lithium, oil, light sweet crude, copper, gold, the Amazon, and fresh water.
This is what the United States wants to plunder from Latin America and the Caribbean. pic.twitter.com/Q9Rh5XP0jB

From the Financial Times
Brazil and Argentina to start preparations for a common currency. Brazil and Argentina will announce this week that they are starting preparatory work on a common currency, the Financial Times reported (https://www.ft.com/content/5347d263-7f24-4966-8da4-79485d1287b4) on Sunday.
The plan, set to be discussed at a summit in Buenos Aires this week, will focus on how a new currency which Brazil suggests calling the “sur” (south) could boost regional trade and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar, FT reported citing officials.

I’ll be watching the CELAC conference next week where Xi is expected to give a video address, just as he did at the last CELAC Leaders’ Summit. https://www.as-coa.org/articles/argentina-hosts-7th-celac-summit-amid-new-presidential-landscape

Thanks so much for all the happiness videos in the previous Chronicles QC?
Some are private and I cannot access them though. Here is a little about that Belt and Road Band: https://english.news.cn/20220814/97ca3371f08f49f5bf3c6e2de4939c7c/c.html

Yeah, you can post. (As far as I can see!)
Let me just say why I so much enjoy these feasts of music and color and movement. It is good clean fun! No twerking and jerking and oversexualized content. Lovely!
Just me Amarynth, but I remain stubbornly partial to a wee bit of 80s “twerking and jerkin” on occasion… especially when it’s the late Laura Brannigan strutting her stuff on the catwalk. This just happens to be my all-time #1 perking up song that I totally max out on my… Read more »
You’re old-fashioned for sure. Here is some – a few years old now. Heaven knows what they do these days.

Thanks QC, for posting such lovely videos.
Rarely do we get to see such cultural treats and entertainment from China.
Stupendous performances, all of them.
I especially loved the ballet. The happy song for BRI was very good.
👏👏
Wow QC? Amazing stuff!! Such talent and skill and superb productions. I particlarly liked the troop of acrobats with tall banners. Wow! Also the toe dancing ballet was absolutely beautiful and expressive. Thanks so much for sharing.

Amarynth, the Western politicians of whom you speak were pre=selected and promoted to look after the interests of very wealthy and powerful people. A couple of years back, when Chile elected a left wing govt, I assumed that Chile would become a target, but that does not seem to be happening. Or have I missed something?
Perhaps Peru’s minerals are more important.
Chile is a little on the fence. Their left-wing president who was a student activist is not as left as what people thought, or, he has been squeezed to death. I mean, where will the US get their blueberries from if Chile does not play the game?
Amarynth, when I was a boy there were many of us at the front of the herd warning them to change course for there was an abyss not far ahead. I suspect you were there as well. Now our toes are inches from the edge and the herd still keeps… Read more »
Decisions, decisions. What do I write next. Pancakes! Like Larch, I have a weakness for them. Col, this Branigan song was my favorite in 80s.. a hopeless cheese-pop fan for a while. However I couldn’t stand Gloria, dunno why. Too much of the insistent joy of “Grease” and the 1950s?? And a few decades later in reviewing… Read more »
Goodness, me AHH are we long lost kindred spirits?… that was one of my favourites too!
Brannagan most certainly had those legendary sparkly Irish eyes. Of course, the physical aspects were secondary for me… what really captured my attention was the lyrics.

One of my all-time favourites from my #1 musical hero of all time Van the Man.

What a wonderful anecdote Amarynth.
Ah yes, Black Velvet was a favourite of mine too. And a tribute song to Elvis himself.
Alannah is almost a female-look-a-like version of the King.
The rhetoric ever returns to Crimea, as noted recently by Amarynth. And its uptrending a lot now. Ze’s mooted Last Offensive appears headed in that direction. What inescapable (if unachievable) mission do they have, before their strength fully ebbs? Why the demented, absolutely laser-focused NATO obsession with regaining Crimea? This… Read more »

Translate those excess deaths to the US population, annualize it, and it would be a completely mind-boggling 370,000 in one f^%^$g year.
